Falls Church Construction Mainstay Burns Down

If you live in Falls Church or McLean I am guessing you know of the home once tagged (literally) “Gigantor”. The home at the corner of Haycock and Westmoreland in Falls church has, decease well… had, pharmacy been under construction for years. For ages the home sat with a framed in basement, ed which gradually went from a fresh brown lumber, to grey, to near black in places. Then, out of nowhere, there was life again as construction resumed.

The first order of business was to start over, so all the existing framing was removed. Seemingly over night the full structure was up, and the place even had a roof. Then, just as quickly as work had begun again, things seemed to go back to the old normal. The pace slowed considerably, but if I remember correctly (please correct me if I am wrong here) I believe it eventually looked like completion was possible.

Then, in the wee hours of the morning on Sunday, the saga began a new chapter. Flames engulfed the home, which is now little more than a foundation cradling the ashes of the famed “Gigantor”.
